Retail margin check

After commission, is your retail still worth stocking?

Pick a commission rate and we'll show you what's actually left per bottle once wholesale cost, GST and staff commission come out. No hype — just what the shelf really earns you.

$
What the client pays at the counter, including GST.

All figures are ex-GST. Sell price ex-GST = inc price / 1.10 (GST 10%). Gross margin = sell ex - wholesale cost. Commission is charged on the ex-GST sale value; if "add super" is on we load it by 12% (Super Guarantee, from 1 Jul 2025) because commission paid as wages attracts super. "Monthly retail contribution" is what's left after wholesale cost and commission only - it is NOT net profit, as it doesn't include rent, card fees, payroll tax or GST you remit. Commission paid as wages may also attract workers comp (~1.5%) and, for larger multi-site businesses, state payroll tax - check your own situation. This tool is a guide, not tax or payroll advice; confirm award commission and super rules at fairwork.gov.au.

A working tool, not financial advice. It uses the figures and assumptions you enter — check them against your own numbers and your accountant before any pricing, wage or financial decision. Award and tax figures change (often each 1 July); verify current rates at fairwork.gov.au and ato.gov.au. Shear Profit gives no tax or financial advice.
